Master Chen

Master Chen Shixing was born in Yangxin county, Hubei province, China. He is a 15th generation disciple of the Wudang Sanfeng School. He inherits the essence of Wudang Kungfu and is a highly accomplished master of qigong, taiji, bagua, xingyi, and qinggong.

Master Chen has loved wushu since his childhood and began training extenal kungfu forms when he was seven. At the age of eleven he set out to find a master of the internal styles. As he knew that Wudang Mountain was the origin of internal kungfu, he came to the Wudang Daoist Center on Wudang Mountain, where he had the good fortune to be made an apprentice to Master Zhong Yunlong, a 14th generation Daoist priest of the Wudang Sanfeng School. Master Chen is regarded highly by his teacher and fellow apprentices.

Wudang Mountain area is a unique and sacred place, laden with history. It not only provided Master Chen with an extensive and profound knowledge of wushu, but also nurtured his spiritual understanding of Daoism. The Wudang martial arts based on Daoist doctrines elevates physical potential, calms the spirit and prolongs life.

1991 Master Chen learned tujia styles from an old wushu master in his hometown when only seven years old.

1995 Came to Wudang Mountain and was apprenticed to Priest Zhong Yunlong, a 14th generation internal wushu master of the Wudang Sanfeng school.

1998 Was selected by the Wudang Daoist Kungfu Mission to take part in many large international wushu championships, as well as to perform Wudang Wushu for national leaders and foreign dignitaries receiving great acclaim.

1999 Taught at the Wudang Daoist School under his Master and became the youngest wushu teacher at the school.

2003 Master Chen left Wudang Mountain to teach Wudang Wushu and to spread Daoist spirituality to other parts of China. For two years, he brought Wudang Taiji to many of the major parks in Wuhan and Shanghai, allowing Wudang Taiji to enter the lives of the local people and to strengthen them. Wherever he has taught, he enjoys high prestige and universal respect in the minds of his numerous students. Master Chen remains true to his principles, and has provided his students with the wonderful opportunity of learning Wudang Sanfeng Taiji in positive and beautiful environments.

On June 22, 2007, after much thorough preparations, Master Chen founded the China Wudang Kungfu Academy next to Yuanhe Temple, Wudang. His greatest aspiration, in his own words, is “that everybody can realise the dream of wushu and find health in my kungfu school”.

In October 2008, Master Chen, becoming one of the ten elites to represent Wudang Kungfu after two rounds of fierce qualifying trials, participated in the third Traditional Wushu World Championships, and achieved the following:
Tai Yi Xuan Men Jian by Master Chen won the gold medal for Wudang Sword;
Longhua Quan by Master Chen won the silver medal for Wudang Internal Forms;
The performance of Wudang Horsetail Whisk by Master Chen together with Wudang Sword by Qing Feng ZI won the gold medal;
Wudang Xuan Gong won the group gold medal.

Master Chen is determined to spend his life assiduously researching and carrying forward Wudang Wushu in order that he may better transmit orthodox Wudang Kungfu to people from all over the world.
