Interview By Jiangxi TV station

Yesterday, reporters of Jiangxi TV station paid a visit to our academy and interviewed Wushu master Chen Shixing. This interview was conducted by Jiangxi TV-5’s program team Decode China’s Wushu, which mainly interviews people with special Wushu skills and shows their experience of learning Wushu so that Wushu fans can learn the essence of different Wushu schools.

In Yuzhen Temple, master Chen shixing first performed Wudang Qingkung. He dashed upon a wall four meters high with a stride. Reporters were greatly impressed by master Chen’s performance and interviewed him afterwards. Master Chen said, “as one of the best Wushu skills, Wudang Qingkung is not only used for climbing walls but also for training people’s balanced capacity and adaptive capability of the body. Qingkung’s main skills include dodging, transporting air in the body, leaping, shifting etc. When you’ve practiced Qingkung to some extent, you can defeat your rival by combining Wushu skills with real situations. “

Most people do not know much about health preserving, young people don’t care about it because they think health preserving is for old people. Master Chen emphasizes that if the body’s energy circulation is not balanced, people will become tired and find it difficult to concentrate. One of the reasons for the special effects of health preserving is its scientific training. It is characterised by taking advantages of the bodies condition at any given time : training muscles and bones when the body is strong, practicing breath when the body is weak. Nowadays,we are all aware that the body has a natural health preserving process… sleeping, sitting and generally resting are good examples. However, by taking the time to study and practise Wudang Qingkung we can aid the process and reap great rewards. Young people, full of life and strong restoration, do not often feel short of vigor, which does not mean they do not need health preserving. If people begin to learn health preserving at a young age, they will benefit double the rewards with only half the effort. A Chinese old saying is “repairing the house before it rains”, young people should get some enlightenment from it.

Then, reporters came to Yuanhe Temple with master Chen. Xuanmen swordsmanship and Longhua Quan(Dragon form) were performed here. Both belong to Xuanmen Wushu skills which is known for refined and simple movements and beating action by inaction, so in actual combat, one may react quicker. Meanwhile, when your rivals attack in an unconventional manner, you can create your own counter movements. Eventually you will become invincible as your exerience increases.

Returning to the Wushu academy and upon the request of reporters, master Chen performed the unique “climbing trees” technique. Climbing a tree is very different from climbing walls which can be easily jumped from, climbing trees demands good judgement and agility. However, master Chen climbed two thirds of a nine meter-high tree in a flash and jumped down from the tree with the greatest of ease.

Videos were filmed for the whole afternoon, but master Chen was always trying his best to perform and patient to every media guest. It is undoubted that master Chen makes his contribution to China’s Wushu development.
