In early July 2009, the first Spanish kungfu students came to our academy. As a result of their passion for Wudang Daoist kungfu as well as Chinese kungfu in general and also from their admiration for Master Chen, these five men arrived at the sacred land of Daoism, Wudang mountain, despite the troubles of travelling such a long distance.
What is interesting is that whilst in Wudang they studied different forms; most foreign students prefer to specialize in one particular style of kungfu. What caused them make such a decision? After a discussion with them, they told us that only this way can they take a variety of Chinese kungfu back home and spread the Wudang martial arts heritage. They added that they wanted to learn Chinese kungfu, to strengthen their bodies and disseminate the culture of kungfu. We were all moved by their spirits and ambitions.
It's true that kungfu is the quintessence of China, and Wudang kungfu is a celebrated school of kungfu. Its increasing fame is the accumulation of the efforts contributed by several generations. We should be proud of our unique treasure and carry it forward.
